Tīria Pereti Pehi

Tīria Pereti Pehi (nō Ngāpuhi me Te Āti Hau Nui-ā-Pāpārangi) is an assistant research fellow with He Kāinga Oranga/ Housing and Health Research Programme. Tīria comes from Whangārei, where she worked in the community supporting people in serious housing need to access emergency and transitional housing. Her work at the coalface of homelessness has fuelled her passion for creating better housing outcomes not only for Māori but for all people of Aotearoa.

Tiria has a BA in social science from Auckland University of Technology, and hopes to continue her studies at the University of Otago. Her research interests include homelessness, mental health, Māori identity, institutional racism, the environment, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its applications to wider society.
