RESEARCH INTERESTS

I studied for a Master in Public Health with University of Otago, and am interested in how policies aiming to make our cities more compact and sustainable are put into practice in our urban areas. My research explores the challenges faced in implementing planned improvements for walking and cycling within the context of neighbourhood redevelopment. It uses case studies of current and completed urban re-development to look at challenges and solutions to enhancing the environment for walking and cycling.

My career in public health has focused on health promotion projects, and team management in the social and built environments areas. I enjoy working with other agencies and am particularly interested in how we can enhance the public health contribution to urban environments issues, especially with local government.
