RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am undertaking a Master in Public Health, and am interested in how policies aiming to make our cities more compact and sustainable are put into practice in our urban areas. My research will explore the challenges faced in implementing planned improvements for walking and cycling within the context of neighbourhood redevelopment. I will be using case studies of current and completed urban re-development to explore challenges and solutions to enhancing the environment for walking and cycling.

Over the past ten years I have worked part time for Regional Public Health in Wellington. My career in public health has focused on health promotion projects, and team management in the social and built environments areas. My current role is Senior Public Health Advisor and my primary focus is on urban environments and health, and transport and health. I enjoy working with other agencies and am particularly interested in how we can enhance the public health contribution to urban environments issues, especially with local government.

I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health, from the University Of Otago, Wellington, and Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from Victoria University. I live in the Hutt Valley, with my husband and two young children.
