My areas of interest are community resilience and empowerment, resource use especially food, waste reduction, alternative transport, and the role of planning practice in the sustainability of our urban areas. I have studied at University of Otago in Dunedin and Uppsala University in Sweden, and volunteered at a legal education centre in Cambodia for Volunteer Service Abroad.

The security of food production has implications for community resilience and sustainability. This Masters research, supported by the NZ Centre for Sustainable Cities, examines examples of urban food production in order to identify opportunities for planners and local councils to support and enhance urban food production in New Zealand.
