Video – Sustainable living: Housing, transport and the city
Housing prices around New Zealand are a hot topic. One view is that if we build more houses, prices should come down. But what sort of housing at what sort of densities should we be building? And with the prospect of more housing, what sort of infrastructure will be needed? Ralph Chapman and Morten Gjerde discuss how to incorporate sustainability into our response to the housing crisis.
Ralph Chapman is an associate professor in the School of Geography, Environment and Earth Sciences, Victoria University of Wellington, and a member of the NZ Centre for Sustainable Cities.
Morten Gjerde is a senior lecturer in Urban Design at Victoria University of Wellington.
