There has been a wave of smokefree street initiatives across North America and Australasia in the last 8 years. This seminar will examine the importance, effectiveness, ethics, politics and practicalities of smokefree downtown areas.
George Thomson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health, and is part of the ASPIRE 2025 tobacco control research collaboration. He has been researching smokefree outdoor policies since 2008, and has visited a number of cities in Australia and the USA that have smokefree streets.
This event is organised by the Department of Public Health, University of Otago Wellington.
